In Internet Explorer, how do I turn Java or JavaScript off or on?
To enable or disable Java or JavaScript in Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8, follow the appropriate instructions below.
Internet Explorer 7 or 8
To enable or disable Java:
- From the Tools menu, or the Tools drop-down in the upper right, select Internet Options... .
- Click the Programs tab, and then click Manage Add-ons.
- Highlight Java Plug-in.
- Click Disable (located under "Settings" in version 7).
- Click OK twice.
To enable or disable JavaScript:
- From the Tools menu, or the Tools drop-down in the upper right, choose Internet Options... .
- Click the Security tab.
- Click Custom Level... .
- Scroll to the "Scripting" section of the list. Click Disable or Enable.
- Close and restart your browser.
Internet Explorer 6
- From the Tools menu, choose Internet Options... .
- Click the Security tab.
- Click Custom Level... .
- Java: Scroll to the "Java" section (under "Java VM", under "Java permissions"). To disable Java, click Disable Java. To re-enable Java, click a different setting, such as High Safety or Medium Safety.
- JavaScript: Scroll to the "Active scripting" section of the list (under "Scripting") Click Disable or Enable.
- Close and restart your browser.
In Firefox, how do I turn Java and JavaScript off or on?
To enable or disable Java and JavaScript in Firefox:
- In Firefox for Windows, from the Tools menu, select Options... .
In Firefox for Mac OS X, from the Firefox menu, select Preferences... .
- In Firefox 1.5 or later, click Content; in Firefox 1.0, in the list on the left, select Web Features.
- Check (to enable) or uncheck (to disable) Enable JavaScript and Enable Java.
